{"id":9843,"date":"2026-09-22T14:57:09","date_gmt":"2026-09-22T14:57:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.aisfor.it\/assummer-seven-european-countries-together-against-summer-energy-poverty\/"},"modified":"2026-09-22T15:03:28","modified_gmt":"2026-09-22T15:03:28","slug":"assummer-seven-european-countries-together-against-summer-energy-poverty","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.aisfor.it\/en\/assummer-seven-european-countries-together-against-summer-energy-poverty\/","title":{"rendered":"ASSUMMER: seven European countries together against summer energy poverty"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tackling summer energy poverty by transforming knowledge and policies into coordinated actions on the ground.<\/strong> This is the challenge at the heart of <strong>ASSUMMER \u2013 Actor-grounded Coordination Structures for SUMMER Energy Poverty<\/strong>, the new European project coordinated by <strong>AISFOR<\/strong> and funded by the European Union&#8217;s LIFE programme.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ASSUMMER involves seven countries in the Euro-Mediterranean area \u2013 <strong>Italy, Spain, France, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece and Cyprus<\/strong> \u2013 with the aim of strengthening the capacity of institutions, operators and local actors to prevent and combat a phenomenon destined to take on increasing importance with the increase in temperatures and the greater frequency of heat waves.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project path officially kicked off with the <strong>kick-off meeting held in Rome on 8 and 9 September<\/strong>, which brought together the European partnership to define the first activities, share approaches and objectives and start the joint work of the coming years.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A form of energy poverty that is still not very visible<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Energy poverty is traditionally associated with the difficulty of adequately heating one&#8217;s home during the winter. But climate change is also making the opposite problem increasingly evident: the difficulty of maintaining conditions of comfort and safety during the warmer months. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For the most vulnerable households, facing high temperatures does not only mean living with heat. <strong>Inefficient homes, poor protection from overheating, absence of adequate cooling solutions and phenomena such as urban heat islands<\/strong> can significantly increase discomfort and social and health risks.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite the growing importance of the phenomenon, summer energy poverty continues to find limited space in European policies and intervention tools. ASSUMMER was born precisely from the need to help fill this gap. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From knowledge to concrete actions<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the central elements of the project concerns the transition between <strong>knowledge of the phenomenon, definition of policies and their concrete application at the territorial level<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">National Observatories on Energy Poverty play a key role in the production of data, analysis and policy guidance. However, the availability of information and strategies does not automatically guarantee that these will be transformed into coordinated interventions adapted to the needs of different territories. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In the seven countries involved, the <strong>Summer Energy Poverty National Coordination Structures (SEP-NCS<\/strong>) will be established, national multi-actor coordination structures dedicated to summer energy poverty.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The goal is to create stable spaces and processes of collaboration between institutional subjects, local operators, professionals and other actors who, with different skills, can contribute to building more coordinated and effective responses.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A model designed to be transferable<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ASSUMMER&#8217;s work will not end in the countries and territories directly involved in the activities.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, the project aims to create the conditions so that the approaches and models developed can be <strong>maintained over time, transferred and progressively replicated<\/strong>, first at national level and then in a European perspective.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This process will also be supported by a <strong>Mediterranean Coordination Board<\/strong> and a <strong>European Coordination Board<\/strong>, designed to strengthen cooperation between countries and encourage the dissemination of experiences and results beyond the contexts directly involved.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is precisely this systemic dimension that characterizes ASSUMMER&#8217;s approach: summer energy poverty is not addressed only as a problem related to buildings or temperatures, but as a challenge that requires <strong>governance, local capacities, coordination between actors, knowledge and integrated policies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">AISFOR leading the project<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As <strong>coordinator of ASSUMMER,<\/strong> AISFOR will lead the European partnership and accompany the overall implementation of the project, promoting the connection between the activities and between the different countries involved.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">AISFOR will also play a central role in communication and dissemination activities, helping to enhance the results of the project, the experiences developed in the territories and their potential impact at national and European level.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With ASSUMMER, an ambitious path is thus launched: <strong>to bring summer energy poverty more to the center of attention and transform knowledge and strategies into tools, skills and concrete answers capable of starting from the territories and dialoguing with European policies.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>ASSUMMER project \u2013 Actor-grounded Coordination Structures for SUMMER Energy Poverty<\/strong> is funded by the LIFE programme of the European Union under Grant Agreement No. 101293845.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new ASSUMMER project aims to tackle summer energy poverty by translating policies into concrete actions on the ground<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":5,"featured_media":9842,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[137,135,178],"tags":[130,151,150,131,181],"class_list":["post-9843","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-energy-poverty","category-ongoing","category-summer-energy-poverty","tag-energy-poverty","tag-energy-poverty-2","tag-european-project","tag-highlights","tag-summer-energy-poverty"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.3 -
