GreenFit is a Horizon Europe project that supports European farms in the transition to a more sustainable, competitive and climate-resilient agriculture, through digital tools, innovative training and concrete solutions for rural communities.
On 23 and 24 March, the evocative Valletta Design Cluster in Malta hosted the second in-person meeting of the GreenFit project, an event that marked a concrete transition from the exploratory phase to the implementation phase.
Two intense days, with an articulated program and a clear objective: to consolidate the work done so far and lay the operational foundations for the launch of the territorial pilots.
Discussion, listening and network building
The first day focused on dialogue between partners. The focus groups carried out in the various national contexts were analyzed in detail, with attention not only to the results, but also to the critical issues that emerged and useful indications for refining future activities. Ample space was also dedicated to local value chains: an analysis necessary to identify the key players to be involved and build solid synergies in the pilot territories.
There was no shortage of cross-cutting themes — communication, dissemination and development of a European knowledge network — to underline how GreenFit is not only a technical innovation project, but also an infrastructure for collaboration between communities.
To give further weight to the meeting was the intervention of Stefan Zrinzo, Minister of European Funds of Malta, who reiterated the strategic role of European funding in supporting innovation, with particular reference to the agricultural and rural sectors.
Technology and operations: the second day
The second day had an even more practical slant. The partners focused on the concrete design of the pilots: characteristics, specific needs, constraints to be anticipated and monitoring methods. A dedicated session presented the main technological tools of the project — XR-AgriTrain, Drone-in-a-Box and FMIS — complementary solutions designed to enhance training in the field, simplify the monitoring of agricultural activities and support farmers’ decision-making processes.
The meeting ended with a participatory workshop, structured to address — pilot by pilot — obstacles, objectives, solutions and potential. A moment that transformed ideas into action plans, making the next phase of implementation more robust and shared.
