Tailor-made energy

How much do you consume? “Energia su Misura” tells you

“How much do I consume?” is just one of the many questions we ask ourselves about electricity consumption at home, other questions that one asks ourselves are “how do I consume?”, “what is the appliance that consumes the most?”, “what is the energy consumption in the house when no one is there?” but certainly this is not an exhaustive list of all the questions we would like to have answers to.

Now it is possible to get answers to many of the questions about energy consumption at home by joining “How much do you consume? R.S.E. tells you”. By joining this initiative carried out by R.S.E. (Research on Energy Systems) you will receive a free kit for monitoring your consumption at home as well as personalized advice from experts based on your consumption and what habits / behaviors to change or adopt to reduce electricity consumption in the home. To join the initiative, you must be a resident of Rome and have an electricity meter at home.

Energy sustainability also passes through the rational use of energy by users. However, despite the many efforts made so far, users’ awareness of energy issues is still very limited, as evidenced by the fact that a significant portion of energy consumption still occurs through inefficient practices that involve high waste.

This problem has its origins in a lack of environmental sensitivity to energy issues but is also aggravated by the fact that most users are not aware and aware of their energy saving potential. It is precisely on this front, both at the European level (Directive 2012/27 on energy efficiency) and also at the Italian level, which has set itself the goal of making the consumer an increasingly active and dynamic subject in the energy system.

A very promising approach to overcome this critical issue is the use of appropriate feedback tools that allow, within the home, the monitoring and visualization of consumption divided by the various appliances.

Aisfor collaborates with R.S.E. on the experimental project “Energia su Misura” to verify how awareness of one’s own energy consumption and tailor-made advice to reduce such consumption (through personalized communications) can encourage the adoption of efficient behaviors at home.

Participants who join the trial will be installed with the “Tailored Energy” kit consisting of:

– smart sockets at the main appliances (maximum 6 – refrigerator, TV, PC, stereo system, washing machine, dishwasher, microwave, toaster ….) – the choice of appliances is agreed together with the participants based on consumption habits at home,

– a device connected to the meter in the house (small size),

– a device connected to a socket near the meter (approx. 10cm * 20cm * 15cm in size).

The system provides for the online measurement, every quarter of an hour, of the electrical technologies connected to the smart sockets and allows the total consumption of the home to be measured, in order to derive the consumption of the remaining appliances by difference. All this data is analyzed by experts on domestic electricity consumption who will trace the baseline of the home’s consumption and allow tailor-made advice to be made to reduce electricity consumption which will then be communicated directly to the user who can decide whether and how to put into practice the advice provided.

The experimentation lasts about 5 – 6 months (approximately 2-3 months for monitoring consumption and another 2 – 3 months to evaluate the impact of the advice on consumption). During the trial, you can opt out of your participation at any time.
